During the day, my iMac went to sleep (a problem I have been trying to solve for a several weeks now). My data logger interval is set to 15 minutes. After I discovered the iMac was asleep, I woke it up. It was asleep for about 2 hours. My data logger interval is set to 15 minutes. During the time it was asleep, the Daily Statistics show that .13 inches of rain was recorded. Daily Statistics show Today's Daily Total Rain is .28 inches. The console shows Daily Rain to be .15 inches. Which one is likely to be correct, I ask myself?
I have a CoCoRaHS gauge that tells me today's rain is .31 inches. CoCoRaHS and Vantage are often off by a small amount but at least I now know that the higher number displayed in the WC Statistics window is correct and the console number is incorrect. I don't have an explanation for why the console number is wrong while the WC number is right, but I trust Stu more than I trust Davis so I want to fix the console.
I manually calibrate the Daily Rain on the console, by putting in the correct amount of rain for today, which also affects Monthly and Annual Rain on the console. After doing this, I see that my WC Statistics are increased by the amount of the calibration, which now makes them too high by the amount of the calibration.
I think - but do not know - that if I wait until tomorrow and then put the correct amount of rain into the Daily Rain Editor, that everything should once again align and the universe will be at peace until my iMac falls asleep again (another story for a different thread).
Am I on the right track here or am I missing something important, which would not surprise anyone, least of all me.
