I wish I could answer that, Randall. I've been running Yosemite Beta on my 'other than weather station' iMac, from the beginning of the beta program. Seems like a mostly cosmetic upgrade to me, though the sharing through iCloud features have changed a lot. Can't say much about that, because during the beta test, it was not ready for prime time and I couldn't use it.
But the beat goes on. Best to try and keep up, as long as your hardware is up to it. My beta test computer is a 2008 model year and did OK, but seemed to be disk swapping a lot in Yosemite with only 4 GB RAM. It will only support 6 GB, so I added that and, just in case that wasn't enough, put in a 512 GB SSD. The swaps stopped with 6 GB, and the SSD makes it perform better than ever!
As far as Yosemite, I'd say, no hurry. Wait for the servers Apple uses to cool down and then have a go.
