 So for all of you that have updated to Mavericks what is so special about it is there any thing new worth the up grade if is what? Just curious before i up grade

I've upgraded my home iMac, the WC MacMini, and my work MacBook Pro now to Mavericks and I would recommend the upgrade.

A few minor issues with Safari and Mail Plug-in's not yet being Mavericks compatible but other than that all is working fine. A few points why I like it;
- So far it has been fully stable and FAST! Hate the term but imho it is 'snappier' than ML.
- I like the cleaner interface (e.g. no more silly stitched leather things on iCal)
- Finder improvements (Tabs)
- Better multi-display support
- Truly improved battery life on the MBP
- I want to stay up to date with the latest technology and it is a FREE upgrade

A bit early to tell, but my impression is that with Mavericks Apple is focusing again on better technology and less on 'trendy looks'. 
If you are the cautious type you may want to wait for 10.9.1. I've heard about some Mail.app issues but haven't been impacted myself.

Alas, my Mac mini now pretends it's a Windoze, significantly slower than before, I'll probably have to upgrade the memory which I was thinking about doing anyway, but just running WeatherCat and opening a couple other applications grinds the mini to a halt.

That is weird. Even my 2007 iMac (C2D, 4GB) is running fine and faster with Mavericks compared to ML.

I am thinking now to wait until the end of the year that way i can backup all my stuff here first before jumping the gun
will loose a lot of programs that i have after the update

I have upgraded my Mac mini (Mid 2011, WeatherCat dedicated), my iMac (Early 2009, main computer) and my MacBook Air (Late 2008) without any problems. The only thing I noticed is that SnapzProX needs an update - so far I know, Ambrosia is working on it.

Like Mav quite a bit. I'm running a mid 2011 27 iMac with 12megs ram. Had an issue with Mail that Applecare solved and an issue with Office that a senior Microsoft tech fixed (yes I know almost unbelievable). Like the calendar and Safari new bookmarks feature. Seems fast. WeatherCat works fine also.

We are running a 2012 15" MacBook Pro, a 2011 13" MacBook Air, my 2011 27" iMac, and the 2008 17" MacBook Pro all on Mavericks. The old 17" with SSD runs faster now than it ever did! No problems with the updates or software compatibility whatsoever.

I feel very envious of those of you who have downloaded Mavericks. After 3 attempts to download here in Wales, I have to admit defeat. Each attempt took approx 5 hours but it never completed in that time. Download speed here is around 98Kps/sec which is slow probably in your eyes.  I have tried to contact Apple to see if there is a CD available but the message I receive is that it will cost me $19 to make an enquiry. So I will to soldier on with Snow Leopard.

Is there A. Apple store nearby?  I believe they will let you download it there. Or perhaps. Friend has a faster connection where you could make an install flash drive?

you could download Frostwire and download it from there even if your download is slow you can start and restart it there
