New service to access ECMWF computer model.
« on: September 25, 2013, 09:48:31 PM »
Dear WeatherCat fans,

Andrew Revering, the fellow who has a PC version of a weather forecast model, has a new product: EuroWx.  Unlike his other product, this is purely a web service:

http://www.eurowx.com/

It provides an unprecedented 55+ maps generated from ECMWF data with forecasts out as far as 10 days for the 48 United States. This of course includes temperature, precipitation, snowfall, wind data and even severe weather indices.

You can sign up for a 7 day trial.  After that, it will cost you around $8 a month for this info.  If you join now, you can get an introductory rate of $6.95.  I've signed up for the trial and it does look interesting.  For example, in my case the ECMWF rain reaching our area on Sunday, while the National Weather Service has discounted this.  It could be interesting way to get a "second opinion" on the forecast.

For your information . . . . .

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Edouard,,

So what do you think after a few days?

I'll likely sign up the the trial as well.

Jeff

Anybody else got an opinion? (Re: Access ECMWF computer model.)

Howdy Jeff and WeatherCat peerers into "meteorological crystal balls,"

So what do you think after a few days?

I'll likely sign up the the trial as well.

I was about to post the same question to see what other folks thought about it.  It seems a little weak for the money in terms of presentation and I would prefer to pay a little more for a service that would for example provide info about the other models.  However, I think I'll also give the service a try in the hopes that if Andrew succeeds with this, he might follow up with the other services in a bundled package.

Any other opinions?

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I'll likely pass on it.  All I need is another monthly bill [rainyluck]

Ditto . . . . . .   Until I have more time I just wouldn't get my money's worth.  Not sure this service is worth the money as it is.
