Hi,

Running v2.6.4 on an iMac (8gb ram i7 processor) running 10.6.8.
New to Weathercat but a long time LWC user.
Yesterday I launched Weathercat for the first time.
Eventually, Weathercat seemed to be working fine.
I shut down the computer at 11pm, and started it and Weathercat about 7:30 am.
When it started downloading records from the station, (over 1500!) I got the
spinning beach ball (Weathercat not responding) even though the records did slowly all download in about 20 minutes.

What could the problem be?

Tom

Hi Tom,
Sounds like it had a problem reading from the logger - a couple of things to check:
First, that the date and time on the console matches that of the computer. Second thing to check is the logger interval (Tools->Station Hardware Options) - make sure it's set correctly.

After doing these things, quit WeatherCat, leave it for an hour then boot it up again - it should download the missing data.

Thanks again.
I chose the 30 minute interval and I'll check it tomorrow morning.

It must be the season for data-logging issues.

I, too, am a newbie to WeatherCat and am having similar data-logging problems.  I am using a wireless Davis VP2 with WeatherLinkUSB with a MacBook Air running OSX 10.7.5.  The station is currently running on batteries.

Last night, the MacBook Air was accidentally shut down around 11:30 p.m. by my wife [sigh]. This morning (according to the WC log) when the MBA was awakened it downloaded the historical data from the station  and uploaded the data to Wunderground.  The problem is that the data showing in Statistics and on WU for the overnight period is the same as that showing for the last data interval before the MBA was shut down.  In other words, the data values are identical for each overnight data interval.  The data values are not frozen on the VP2 itself.  I can see all the hourly values on the weather station's screen.  Everything has been operating normally this morning following wake-up of the MBA.

For reference, my data logger interval is set to 30 minutes and the station clock is set to be synchronized.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance for your help.  Love WeatherCAt, but there is a learning curve. [sweat2]

Alex

Hi Alex,

I followed this advice and it downloaded the data without a hitch:

Sounds like it had a problem reading from the logger - a couple of things to check:
First, that the date and time on the console matches that of the computer. Second thing to check is the logger interval (Tools->Station Hardware Options) - make sure it's set correctly.

After doing these things, quit WeatherCat, leave it for an hour then boot it up again - it should download the missing data.

I shut Weathercat down every evening and start it up every morning. Some mornings it downloads the data in seconds and other times
it is a lot slower. Haven't figured out why yet.

Hi Alex,
Sounds like none of the records downloaded were actually usable - I'd suggest changing the logger interval to something like 15 minutes then changing it back to your 30, then leave WeatherCat off for an hour, then running it to make sure the data does come down from the logger OK.

[Edit: Also make sure the time on the console matches that of your computer - WeatherCat will sync the clock just after midnight, so if it isn't running at that time, you don't get the sync.]

Hi, WCDev.  Thanks much for the advice.  That seemed to do the trick!
