Anyone else getting Wunderground FTP errors?
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:07:00 PM »
Dear WeatherCat fans,

For at least a week (probably more) I've been getting sporadic FTP upload errors reported when WeatherCat tries to upload the webcam image to Weather Underground.  Is anybody else seeing this sort of problem?

A minor annoyance, but I was just curious.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi Randall and WeatherCat fans,

I haven't lately but was about a month ago

Alas, still got this problem.  I rechecked the WeatherCat logs.  It is a FTP time-out problem with Weather Underground.  The images do go through sometime so it isn't a bad password or other configuration problem.

Stu, do you know what is the URL to upload to?  Since I seem to be alone with this, it might be interesting to see why my connectivity is so bad but everyone else seems uneffected.

So sorry that you are having crummy weather.  We are having seasonal temperatures and nothing extreme for the moment.  However, we had a nasty heatwave around the first and the high pressure sitting over the "four corners" is a constant threat.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi Edouard,
The images get FTP'd to webcam.wunderground.com - I'm guessing this may redirect to multiple servers.

Edouard, you are not alone. I too have been having problems, mainly with uploading data. Sporadic, but significant. But mixed in with all sorts of computer failures, so I was not sure . All seems to be well at the moment, but its not the first time for me.

Best wishes

Mike

Howdy Stu, Mike, and WeatherCat fans,

The images get FTP'd to webcam.wunderground.com - I'm guessing this may redirect to multiple servers.

Thanks Stu, I just did a traceroute and it takes 4 seconds to do that - plenty awful.  Not sure why the connectivity is so bad, but that's probably the explanation.  There is probably something similar going on for you Mike.  Oh well, grin and bear it!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
