Convert your Davis VP2 to 24 hour FARS for $199

Archer Trading Post has the Davis 6153S - 24hr Solar Powered Aspirated Shield for Pro2 for those who would like to upgrade to a 24 hour FARS unit. This is not typically an afte-purchase option. Usually, if you want 24 hour FARS, you need to start with a complete 24 hour FARS unit. This completely replaces your existing radiation shield, and mounts your current sensor on a board that mounts inside the 24 hour FARS radiation shield. It has its own solar collector and batteries to run the fan during the night.

Thanks Steve for this interesting snippet!  [tup]

It is a bit tempting.  However, What I think I would prefer to do would be to add a fan to the temperature sensor I have now under the deck.  That's starts getting a little tricky because I would need to dismantle the unit and mount the solar panels where they could get some sun and run wires to supply the power back to the temperature sensor.

In my case, I should just buy a cheap electric fan and power it with AC current which isn't too far away.  That would save me a ton of dough and right now I seem to need my dough for other things . . . . . . .    . . . . . . .  [biggrin]

Thanks for sharing, certainly of interest to folks around here.  :D

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
