Relabel the Aux channels.
« on: March 10, 2013, 07:22:58 AM »
A great feature would be the ability to relabel the AUX channels independently so as to be able to customise the data. On my setup it would be better to assign a location rather than rely upon memory to compare channels.

You can already do this. (Re: Relabel the Aux channels.)

Dear Manna Park and WeatherCat fans,

First, let me welcome you to the WeatherCat forum!

Actually you already can do this.  Go to the Live Data View item of the Tools menu (next to the bottom.)  When you reach the auxiliary channel you wish to rename, just double-click on it and change the name.  I use this to give meaningful names to my two temperature probes.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Thanks,

I tried that before my post because it seemed obvious, but alas the selection does not stay selected long enough to execute any change. I suspect that there is a refresh issue or something like that causing the grief. Any ideas warmly welcomed.

Still learning and have a steep curve ahead!

cheers

Dear Manna Park and WeatherCat fans,

Oops! It's been so long since I've done this I forgot the correct way to do this!  :-[

Okay, go to "Station Hardware Options" which is a little further up the same "Tools" menu.  That will bring up a dialog box that has at the bottom a button called: "Set Channel Names."  If you click on that button, you'll be brought to a window where your changes will stick.

Sorry about that!!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Dear Elagache,

Thanks ever so much for your help.

The Station Hardware Options comes up blank for the WMR200 as there are no configurable options!

Chime in anybody who has come across this and found an out.

Cheers all

No button your display? (Re: Relabel the Aux channels.)

Hmm, so you don't have this button at the bottom of the that display:

Sounds like a bug to me, however, we'll have wait for the opinion of Stuart Ball the WeatherCat Developer.

Sorry, that's as far as I can go with this.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Edouard,

Yep all I get it is this.

Maybe it is just a limitation of the WMR200!

I look forward to anybody's input cause clearly I am at a loss.

Cheers

WMR200 newly supported (Re: Relabel the Aux channels.)

Hi Michael and WeatherCat fans,

Maybe it is just a limitation of the WMR200!

Stu just added support for the WMR200.  Perhaps this is something that didn't make the initial implementation.  Stu usually peeks in during the week, but appears to be "preoccupied."

In any case, you should expect this feature to show up eventually.  I'm afraid for the moment you'll just have to be patient!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

It does work fine with the 968 machine, however it does not rename the channels in the Data View presentation. For those us with weakening eyesight who want to follow a column of data, it would be useful if they could be renamed at the same time to give cohesion with the process. Edouard, as you rightly say we will have to await the thoughts of Stu as he clearly is the best to solve this little puzzle, as indeed he has solved so many in the past.

Best wishes

Mike

Yes, this window comes from the station driver, so what you see there is dependent on your hardware.

Being able to change the extra channel names on a WMR200 is planned for version 1.2.

Sorry to bump, but rather than start a new thread on this exact topic, it seems prudent.

I see we're at v1.21 now, but I'm also a WMR200 user and unable to relabel the channels.    I have the "Aux temp 1" as a pool sensor and would like to label it as such.   Any idea when this feature will make it into the software?

Thanks!

Yep, this was planned for 1.2.0 but didn't make it (and 1.2.1 was a quick bug fix release). However, it's still  on the immediate 'todo' list so should be available sooner rather than later.
