Uploading to Weather Underground
« on: September 28, 2012, 01:35:22 AM »
Vantage Vue
Davis data logger
OS 10.7.5

I was out of the country between 9/1 and 9/21 and not uploading data to WU.  When I returned and booted my computer, all of the collected data downloaded to Weather Cat but only the period from 9/14 to 9/21 uploaded to WU.

Is there anyway to get the missing data up to WU?  While I was gone we had a rare Arizona rain and that rainfall is missing!!!

Thanks

Hi Drew and WeatherCat fans,

Normally WeatherCat does this automatically.  You didn't see any attempt to upload historical data?

You have to have Enable Historical Uploads checked in Weather Underground preferences of WeatherCat.  Is it checked?

If that doesn't work, I vaguely recall a sneaky way to do it that's posted somewhere on MacWeather.  You can't make it work any other way, I'll try to find it.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hi Edouard and Drew
You can modify the weatherundergound upload plist by multiplying 60 second by 60 minutes by 24 by how many days , here is an example (60x60x24x15 days)=129600 subtract this from the total in the plist which you will need to open with a text editor like textwangler and subtract the amount from the number in the plist save it but first you will need to quit WeatherCat before doing all of this and when you restart WeatherCat it will force it to upload all this historical data to WeatherUnderground
The date of the last upload to Wunderground is kept in the file called
WeatherCatLastWundergroundUpload.plist at ~/Library/Application
Support/WeatherCatTemp/ (where ~ is your home directory).
See the manual page 108
hope this helps

Thanks guys!

I followed Randall's directions and the upload has started.  Looks like it will take a while to do 30 days worth.  I will post my results tomorrow ....

Howdy Randall, Drew, and WeatherCat fans,

After I wrote that admittedly - really quick - posting . . . . I started thinking . . . . .

Isn't that info really on the WeatherCat Wiki?

*Sigh* . . . . . Guess what . . . .

http://wiki.trixology.com/index.php/How_to_force_WeatherCat_to_submit_historical_data

and *I* wrote it!!!

Anybody got the feeling I have way too many balls in the air right now?
