Weather Cat stopped working
« on: February 06, 2025, 04:05:14 PM »
Some time this morning my WC stopped working.

I have rebooted my iMac.

My OS is Monterey 12.7.6

Attached is what is showing on my dials and also my dock (This was the temperature when it stopped working)

Anybody got any ideas what I can do ?

Thanks

Probably some sort of preference or data corruption. (Re: WeatherCat stopped)

Dear faymondo and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

Some time this morning my WC stopped working.
. . . . .

Sorry to hear that your WeatherCat installation has stopped working.

We haven't had a WeatherCat installation hang as you describe, but I propose the same procedure to solve your problem.  Try these two steps for fixing it is described in this thread:

https://athena.trixology.com/index.php?topic=3579.msg34358#msg34358

First, replace your preference file.  Make sure to carry out all the steps described in this WeatherCat Wiki posting:

https://wiki.trixology.com/index.php?title=How_to_create_and_use_a_backup_of_your_WeatherCat_preferences_file

It is extremely important to follow all the steps or the attempt to replace the preference file will fail.

Then you need to replace your data with a valid backup.  The backup could come either from a system-wide backup (like Apple's Time Machine,) or WeatherCat's own backup facility.

A number of users have reported success after performing both tasks.

Let us know if you also are able to restore connectivity through this procedure.

Edouard

Thanks for the reply. After several attempts WC finally started but was hanging. Eventually it connected and has worked for over 24 hours now.

Not sure what it was but my solutions were to reboot mac several times, try different USB's, try a different wire and also download the drivers again.

Eventually I had success with the original wire in the original USB slot.
