WeatherCat V3.3.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of WeatherCat version 3.3.0 (Build 300)

Changes over version 3.2.0 are as follows:

   1.   Native Apple Silicon Support.
   2.   WeatherLinkLive station driver stability improvements.
   3.   Fix a crash that could happen generating custom web pages on MacOS Sonoma
   4.   Fixed a bug whereby station comms may stop if the Station Hardware Options window is displayed.
   5.   Removed the Netatmo station driver which is no longer supported after API changes on the Netatmo side.
   6.   FTPS compatibility improvements.
   7.   Removed the SQL driver from the AppleSilicon build, still present in the Intel build.
   8.   Mail sending has been moved off the main thread. This will avoid the situation where WeatherCat could hang until mail sending timed out (if for example, there is a problem with the configuration or the mail server is not reachable/responding).
   9.   Removed Twitter functionality.
   10.   Updated user manual.
   11.   Minimum required operating system version is now 10.13.

WeatherCat V3.3.0 is available for immediate download or if you are running WeatherCat V3.0.0 or later, you can wait for the update notification within WeatherCat to auto update.

Do I understand correctly that if I'm running an Apple Silicon device I will not be able to connect to a MySQL database because the SQL driver has been removed? That would be a deal breaker for me since my website largely runs off that database capability. If so, is there a workaround?

FYI, currently I'm running an Intel Mac Mini.

Running fine, no issues, sends mail.....etc.
Is there a reason I should update to 3.3.0?
There are no new features, does clean up some bugs, but I have not seen any?

Sometimes I think, I better not screw with something that seems to be running fine.

Any suggestions?

The one big benefit of WeatherCat 3.3.0 is support for Apple's own M series processors.  If you are still running an Intel Mac, there is less of an incentive.  On the other hand, upgrading should be fairly smooth.  The issues associated with sending emails is MacOS dependent, so upgrading to WeatherCat 3.3.0 shouldn't require upgrades of any developer tools.

Really, the honest answer depends on how much spare time you have.  If you are extremely busy, indeed leave well enough alone.  If you have some time to spare, then you should be able to upgrade with at most a few hiccups that are easily resolved.
