Trying to clear this message: "sensor error - will reply"
« on: November 08, 2023, 11:01:01 PM »
I'm running WeatherCat 3.2.0 Build 364 on an intel MBP with Ventura 13.4.1.and a Vantage Pro 2 console.  Data uploads just fine to my WeatherUnderground site but the CWOP site is not receiving any uploads at all. I asked Steve Dimse  at FindU.com about this and he pointed me back to the software.
This morning I uploaded the Python 12 software to see if that would clear it but no luck. There have been no crashes or anything, I'm perplexed that WU updates are running perfectly but the CWOP side is completely blocked. Where or what is the "sensor" that has an "error" and what might that be caused by?

OK, I'll reply to myself. I got to wondering if I should have installed the Silicon Labs CP210X to UART Bridge VCP Drivers. But, I quickly found out that those drivers which I' [thermo]ve had for a long time in other OS versions, are not compatible with Ventura. The OS tried at every turn to block the installation of that software. The OS won. I'm wondering if the sensor error could have been actually the lack of a driver.

Hello,
not an answer to your specific issue, but I want to tell you that I was able to install the sylabs drivers on my Mac mini M2 running under the latest release of Sonoma.

Thank you very much for replying. I did some more poking around on the Silicon Lab website and was able to find a download page for Mac OS 10. I installed it just fine, thanks for that. Unfortunately still not able to upload data to CWOP, but I can upload data just fine to WeatherCloud and Weather Underground.
I will turn my attention to my Davis VP2 console, maybe it's the culprit.

OK, problem appears to be at least for now, solved. The "sensor error" seems to have been the wind sensor on the remote anemometer transmitter at the top of my wind turbine pole being in the "off" position. I discovered this as I was going through settings on my Davis console. I'm not 100% sure yet I have this figured out but at least CWOP is logging my data right now.

Thanks everyone.

I love it when a WeatherCatter fins a solution.
