Happy Birthday to My WeatherCat
« on: August 13, 2023, 04:36:04 PM »
Fellow WeatherCatters Everywhere on Earth:

Today is the 10th anniversary of me installing WeatherCat on my iMac (Version 1.2.1 Build 27). 10 years later (Version 3.3.0 Build 149) I still think it is the most robust weather software for macOS available. I thank all of you for your forum contributions. I am especially grateful to those of you who have helped me find solutions to some wonky issues over the past 10 years. You know who you are. I also appreciate, very much, Stu, for sticking with us and providing a product that can run well on new OS versions, as well as on legacy software. I really enjoy being a WeatherCatter and look forward to the next 10 years of perusing backyard weather station data.
ThU5:-)

Time flies, doesn't it! I was thinking you used LWC, WeatherCat's predecessor, and on the old MacWeather forum. It'll be 12 years for me next month!

We need to go out to eat again to celebrate! :)

Congratulations Blick!

Certainly your station has performed well considering the harsh winters at your location.  Davis stations are more expensive, but they durable enough to make the extra investment worthwhile if you are in it for the long haul.

Cheers, Edouard

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Congratulations Blick!

Your message triggered me to look at my own setup:

- I started my Weatherstation in October 2001,
- used Weatherlink on Windows for some time
- moved to LWC on Mac as soon as I learned about the SW (nice: it allowed for importing the .wlk data)
- moved from LWC to WeatherCat. Must also have been at least 10 years ago.

Today WeatherCat us humming along nicely on a 'headless' mid-2011 Mac Mini with High Sierra. Zero error messages.

Very reliable software... And the 22 years of data is all there. Next to Stu's good work, I have no doubt that this is also thanks to this forum. ThU32:-)

I came along just as LWC was breathing its last. Then I followed the WC forum for a long time but didn't do a trial run until WeatherCat was chugging along. The rest is history.

And that dinner was amazingly fun. According to Edouard, you and I are the only WeatherCatters to ever meet up in person.

Congrats, Blick! After I read your post I noticed that I have begun with LWC (the predecessor of WeatherCat) in March 2008. So I really have forgotten to say Happy Birthday and Thank You in March 2023 to this extraordinary weather software for doing its job now for more than 15 years. Shame on me.
