Davis WeatherInsider - Jan 2023

Dear WeatherCat faithful,

Davis Instruments has slick email newsletter that you can read on the web here:

https://mailchi.mp/3afb717535a0/weatherinsider-january2023?e=b32e03dc3d

There is another description of the new Davis console.  Also, there is an interesting article on the sequence of storms that struck California.  Also included in an article on what they call "precision agriculture."

Cheers, Edouard

Storms: Can't say much about the weather out your way, frankly, I'm surprised you guys are still connected to the Continental US!! [lol] You think your recent floods are bad, just wait until you have only ferry service to your State capitol!!

Farming: Well, it is a marketing pamphlet. :) At least they kept things short by concentrating on the weather station sales pitch. ;) Watch a few of the large-scale farming video's on YT and you can get a much more detailed understanding of 'precision farming' and how farmers are using tools only available in the last couple of decades. You'll also see why small farmers are becoming history. Giant farms (measured in thousands of acres) need giant equipment and fewer workers. Today's major producers can't operate without computers and GPS.

Speaking of Local Weather: It would be fine if you could send a bit of warmer air this way. Schools and many businesses shut down today due to the ice storm. 🥶 Fortunately, walking/sliding to the mail box is not mandatory since we get so little actually useful in it. Even with tax season approaching, most forms can be downloaded (saving the senders money for paper, of course). [rolleyes2]
