« on: September 20, 2022, 11:54:13 AM »
I am noticing some differences between the data on Netatmo software and on Weathercat.  Some observations are the same but others, e.g. minimum temperature are not.  I have contacted Trixology about this but they are not responding to my emails.  anyone have a solution?

Dear hadgraft and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

Since this is your first posting on the WeatherCat forum - welcome!

I am noticing some differences between the data on Netatmo software and on Weathercat.  Some observations are the same but others, e.g. minimum temperature are not.  I have contacted Trixology about this but they are not responding to my emails.  anyone have a solution?

Could you provide us with more details of exactly what you are observing?  How much of a difference are you observing and do you see this all the time or only under some conditions?  Also, could you advise us on the Mac model you are running WeatherCat on and which version of macOS you are running?

Thanks, Edouard

Thanks for the message
Mac Retina 4K 21.5 in
Monterey 12.6

Minimum week temp Netatmo: 7.9, Weathercat 13.3
Minimum Day Netatmo: 14.1, Weathercat 18.7

It is never correct.

It is never correct.

Indeed that is peculiar.  When did you first notice this?  Did this behavior start after some change you made to your setup?

Can anyone else with a Netatmo check to see if this is also happening on their setup?

Edouard

I have only recently purchased the Netatmo and it has been doing it from the start.

Hardware or settings? (Re: Difference between Weathercat and Netatmo data)

Dear hadgraft and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

I have only recently purchased the Netatmo and it has been doing it from the start.

Unfortunately, no other WeatherCat users of Netatmo station have responded to my question.  However, checking the WeatherCat release notes, the Netatmo station has been supported since February 2016.  It is quite surprising that this sort of problem would not have been noticed sometime in the past 6 years.  So it seems unlikely to be a flaw in WeatherCat itself.

Could you tell us what your configuration settings are for WeatherCat?   In particular, on page 84 of the current WeatherCat manual it recommends (and I quote:)

The suggested sampling rate in WeatherCat is 10 minutes, non adaptive as this is the polling rate to the Netatmo servers (Preferences->Misc 2).

I'm not sure what the effect would be of configuring WeatherCat differently, but that is a possible cause for your problem.

Another less likely cause would be an issue with the station itself.  "Rebooting it" would seems like a prudent action to consider.  Certainly, I would check the owners manual for any troubleshooting tips.

Let us know what you discover.

Edouard

Thanks, I have loaded the Weathercat software on to my other mac which is newer.  The same problem exists.  I have now changed the sampling rate to 10 minutes and turned off adaptive.  I will see what happens over night.

Good to hear that you are hopefully narrowing in on the issue.

Cheers, Edouard
