Replacing Corrupt Preferences File
« on: June 09, 2022, 01:57:59 AM »
I cannot get WC to send email messages. I'm using Apple Mail with an @me.com account.
I get Error: (535, '5.7.8 Error: authentication failed')
Now I can't get the weather station gauges to go away. They are just always showing on the desktop. Clicking the red close or yellow go away button doesn't work.
From reading various other questions about the email I'm guessing this might be because of a corrupt preference file. I do not have a good back up of the file.
Question: Do I drag the com.trixology.weathercat.plist file to the trash, empty it and then restart the computer? I realize I will have to redo the preference info and have made screen shots of the different windows.

I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks for your time.

If you are talking about the “Weather Station Gauges” window:

To get the Gauges window to behave, use the Tools menu and select “Gauges” (third item from the top). You won’t see any changes, but I think you can now click the red candy button or even use command + W. [tup]

As for the email problems, use the forums search function and look for ‘Apple email password’. There was a change some years ago and many folks had to generate/edit their account password. BTW, you are among a small group that still have a .me addy! I don’t really use it any more, keep it for “old times sake”! [lol]
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF COUNTRIES
Those that use metric = #1 Measurement system
And the United States = The Banana system

Yes. That is the procedure but before you do it, close Weather Cat.
Good luck.
