NOAA US Winter Weather Outlook
« on: October 22, 2021, 10:51:59 PM »
Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has made a press release with their predictions for winter 2021-22 in the United States:

https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/us-winter-outlook-drier-warmer-south-wetter-north-with-return-of-la-nina

It apparently relies heavily on the return of La Niña which is curious because La Niña doesn't seem to be effecting the weather as much because of warming atmospheric temperatures.

The outlook headline is as good a summary as any:  "U.S. Winter Outlook: Drier, warmer South, wetter North with return of La Nina.  Drought likely to persist across the West, improve in the Northwest."

The article includes temperature, precipitation, and drought predictions that I'll update as usual on the 1st of November.

As usual, such predictions should be taken with a large grain of salt[biggrin] . . . except for those on salt-restricted diets! . . . .  lol(1)

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
