 [freeze]   It has been very cold in Iowa the past 2 weeks.   this morning I woke up to -18F, but now it is 5.2F.  Supposed to be a slight warming trend up to the lower 30s by the weekend.   [cold1]

This has been a strange weather year so far, from the floods, derecho, hurricane , the freezing weather in the Southern States,   Wow.    One advantage of being in Iowa Al Roker and the media only give us a glance when we have bad weather in Iowa .  I guess we prepare for it/   [snow]

The biggie is that people tend to drive out on the roads when the weather is terrible and get into pile ups such as the one we had on I80 in both directions, and in Texas recently.

Dear X-Air, Weatheraardvark, and WeatherCat victims of the extreme cold  [freeze]

My sympathies on your plight.  It appears to be a weather pattern similar to what was reported on this thread back in January:

Alas, not only is it causing the terrible cold in the middle of the country, but it is also exacerbating the drought conditions in the west.
