Definitely a character encoding issue (most likely in the DB) - I'll take a backup tomorrow and look into it - thanks for letting me know 

[Edit: Yes, checked the DB, sadly not a simple job to fix without losing data. I'll need to think about it].

not someone else's software!
That symbol is rather redundant unless someone thinks temperature is measured in Hz/mm/liters/etc.

I help admin another forum, still using SMF 2.0.15, it does allow/display the degree symbol.

Just a note folks, I'll be taking the forums off-line sometime over the weekend to fix the character encoding issue - hopefully will be off-line for less than an hour.

Done. You should now be able use the ° character, or any character for that matter, in new posts.

Old posts are untouched - if you have an important post that isn't displaying the correct characters, you should be able to edit it.

If you spot any issues, please let me know in this thread.
