Dear azsilvertip, X-Air, Blick, and WeatherCat welcome wagon, . . . . .
By all means let me join in welcoming you to the WeatherCat forum!
Located on the far west side of the Valley of the Sun, Litchfield Park is a small city with a very interesting history. Google it.
Well now! Why give Google any more dough when you can look up the history of your town directly on Wikipedia?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litchfield_Park,_ArizonaI found it especially interesting that the town's namesake: Paul Litchfield went on to become the president of the Goodyear-Zeppelin Corporation. That later became Goodyear Aerospace:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodyear_AerospaceThat means that Paul Litchfield had an important role in overseeing the design and construction of the U.S.S. Akron and Macon.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Akronhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Macon_(ZRS-5)Anyone who is a fan of rigid airships recognize these two as most unique and visionary. Alas the concept was never given the opportunity to truly prove itself.
Retired 15 years ago from several careers, the last of which was IT Manager for division of a state agency. Been involved with computers since the 80s and now live in Appleland. Got a Vantage Vue system several years ago and had it up in Newport, OR. It now lives in Litchfield Park. I am an amateur radio operator and an old nerd.
Well, my history is a bit different, but you'll find yourself with of plenty company on this forum when it comes to
"more mature nerds!" Cheers, Edouard
P.S. There is one more "nerdy" connection to your home town. The outfit were I bought the electronics to control my model railroad is called: Litchfield Station.
https://www.litchfieldstation.com/Their address is in Avondale, but it is clearly is a stone's throw from Litchfield.
