January was a little colder than normal at my location, with a bit of snow, and wetter than normal.

On the 'it was wet' topic: 2024 was again a very wet year in the Netherlands with a total (my station) of 1164mm. This after a record wet 2023 (1244mm), while the normal for my area is ±780mm.

February was an extreme dry month here in the alps - at least on my place:
Warmer - dryer - calmer.

February was...
Cooler than average (23.38°F versus an average of 30.90)
Drier than average (0.58 in versus an average total of 2.15)
Windier than average (a wind run of 3,843 miles versus an average of 3,026)

But take this information with a grain of salt. As noted elsewhere, I had a hardware failure around January 14th, however, I was in Florida for six weeks, so I couldn't fix anything. Upon my return February 26th, I found the cause. Before leaving, I unplugged my printer to maximize the battery backup in case of a power outage. Sometime after that, the plug apparently fell off of the corner of the desk, landed on the console's USB cable, and separated the micro USB cord from the logger.  [banghead]

That's always been a weak point, and I've had good intentions to wrap the junction in gaffer tape for over a decade. Now, it's finally done.

So this month's report only covers whatever was in the buffer.

Dear WeatherCat observers of all the moods of winter,

Thank you Reinhard and Steve for your contributions!   ThU32:-)

Here is the summary of February at Canebas Weather Station with the usual plug to Grand and WeatherCatRCP

For the newcomer, here is the approximate location:

Open this map on OpenStreetMap

I left January's results for comparison.  February was extremely wet in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the extra rainfall didn't make up for the lack of rain in January.  We shall see what March brings.

So who's next?

P.S.  I have started a thread on WXForum.net to replicate this information on what hopefully be our new home.

Dear Steve, Reinhard, Blick, and WeatherCat faithful,

I forgot to reply to your misfortune.

. . .
[banghead]
. . . .

That is a sort of "perfect storm."  Sorry that something as trite as a cable falling could cause your Mac to lose its data link.  I had this happen to me recently when my 93 year old mother tried to turn of a floor lamp.  Since she is almost completely blind she didn't see the Davis data cable.  Of course, since I'm in the house as a family caregiver it didn't take long for me to become aware of the problem and correct it.

Still lesson learned.  Make sure that you connections are robust!

Edouard

At least you escaped six weeks of winter in the meantime.

Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

After a 16 month hiatus, 2026 is now officially one month old and allows us to display the first climate reports of the new year.  Here is the report from Canebas Weather Station:

As usual, I'll make my "plug" to WeatherCatRCP in the hopes that Grand might reconsider and support it.

Of course the location for the data remains the same:

I have also posted the same information on WXForum has a thank you to Ken for his generous support of the WeatherCat community during our period of homelessness.

So who's next?

Here, in the mountains of Northern Utah, we are experiencing a drought, with the lowest snowfall accumulation I have measured in the last 19 years.
