Dear Steve, Blick, and WeatherCat observers of the calendars turning,

Thank you for your contributions!

2025 is starting very much as 2024 ended, but only time will tell how it turns out.

In the meantime, here is the wrap-up for 2024 at Canebas Weather Station with the usual plug to Grand and WeatherCatRCP

Now that I have a map conveniently stored on my web hosting service, here is the approximate location for the curious:

Dear WeatherCat observers of all the moods of winter,

It appears to be up to me to start the assessments of 2025.  Here is the summary of January at Canebas Weather Station with the usual plug to Grand and WeatherCatRCP

Now that I have a map conveniently stored on my web hosting service, here is the approximate location for the curious:

Open this map on OpenStreetMap

As can be seen between the map and the data, 2025 is starting off very dry for the western parts of the United States.  Only time will tell if the trend will continue through the rest of winter.

January was snowy,  breaking a 130 year record with 9.8” in Florida. And we happened to be camped at a State Park just a few miles away from where the new record snow depth was set. 🤪

Thank you Dave, Blick, and Steve, for your contributions!  ThU32:-)

Thanks Steve for sharing!  I hope your travel trailer was cozy even in the cold!

The Weather Channel ran a piece on snow in Hawaii and mentioned that all 50 states can get snow:

https://weather.com/forecast/regional/news/2025-01-29-hawaii-rain-snow-storms-flood-forecast

Snow on Hawaii's tall peaks isn't all that surprising, but snow in Florida is something of a surprise because it is so flat as well as so far south.  Surprise or not there it is!   [snow]
