But I thought "Curiosity" was on Mars?

Funny story;
We never name “things”. Our cat’s name was Cat… But a few weeks ago, Deb and I were watching a YouTube video of a couple our age who travel in a Sprinter van. During one scene of them turning onto a dirt road in Arizona, she said in an overdubbed narration, “Every one of our journeys begin with curiosity. What will we discover? What challenges might we encounter? What will be the lessons we learn?” I paused, replayed that scene, and paused again. Epiphany moment! I turned to Deb and asked how “Curiosity” sounds for a name, and she was all for it.

In looking for inspiration for graphics to place on the front of the trailer, I turned to Google images. One in particular popped out at me, and on a whim, I wrote to the company, Curiosity Software Ireland, asking permission to use it as the name for our new trailer, fully expecting the answer to be “No”. Instead, not only did they give permission, but enthusiastically so! They want to tell our story on their company blog and social media outlets!

Wild! Serendipity all around! We’re having graphics made now. Here’s a mockup.

Getting caught up today after being gone for a few days and coming back to a snowmelt mini-mudslide down the driveway. Love the photos and comments, Steve. Way cool for the software company to embrace the use of its logo. No one will ever likely confuse your Oliver with their programming code. Thanks for sharing the photos and  first impressions.

Thanks for sharing the video link.  There is no doubt that you have made a very good purchase and you and Deb will be enjoying Curiosity for a long time.  The only thing that surprised me is why the company didn't spice in some video of the trailer itself.  You made a point about the importance of the twin beds, that was certainly a good excuse to show that part of the trailer and obviously the company must have some stock footage of the interior for other promotional displays.

You certainly are tempting me to try to make some progress on my own plans, but for the moment, those plans will still have to wait.

Thanks John! The Hiker will stay in the family. Our youngest daughter and her new husband want to use it. They are buying a 110 year old house, so can't buy the trailer now. So we'll do a lend/lease deal where they store it in exchange for using it until they can buy it.

We're heading to Alabama in the morning to a rally with 200 or so other Olive owners! Back in 10 days!!

Nice travel setup! Looks pretty comfortable. Hmm, is that the same car you have had? Time to upgrade the vehicle, perhaps?

I'll have to post some photos of our "rig" when we start our trip from the east coast to the west coast later this summer. Alas, we go budget, i.e. tent camping and hotels if the weather gets too bad. This adventure will include a few nights in Yellowstone National Park.

I may have still had the 2008 Subaru Outback when you were here. That was followed by a 2016 Toyota 4Runner, which we used to tow the Hiker squaredrop. Then in 2021, I snagged the last of the US bound V8 Toyota Land Cruisers. That’s what we’re using for the Oliver. I won’t be replacing either for another 20 years or so. 😁

Steve, thanks for the welcome! Good to be back following the channel. We usually hold on to our car for a long time as well. A few years ago we finally bought a new car - three weeks later a tree fell on it and totaled it. Fortunately, insurance covered the loss 100% and I was able to order another one which took three months to deliver.
