Sadly the build of curl supplied with OS X does not support SFTP - this is primarily the reason it doesn't exist in WeatherCat.

I'll add it as a feature request though, thanks for the post  [tup]

Dear Stu and WeatherCat "oh how I miss Steve Jobs!" types . . .

Sadly the build of curl supplied with OS X does not support SFTP - this is primarily the reason it doesn't exist in WeatherCat.

I wish I could ask if this was a joke, but of course . . . . it obviously isn't funny.  >:(

MacPorts has a reasonably recent version of curl:

https://www.macports.org/ports.php?by=name&substr=curl

If people where willing to go through that hoop, would it be difficult to get WeatherCat to support SFTP?

Sorry to even ask but this could become a more serious problem if other ISPs catch da' same bug.

*Heavy sigh*, . . . . . . Edouard

I know :)

I think the best way to provide it, is to compile up the required curl code with SFTP support (this also needs SSH et al as it's really FTP over SSH) and link it into WeatherCat, however that brings a whole bunch of testing variables into play as well as licensing considerations.

Dear Stu and WeatherCat fans Sylvester the cat's "simple solutions." . . . .  [rolleyes2]

Alas, I agree that bringing the code into WeatherCat is the prudent solution, but the problems you mention are real.

Wouldn't it be nice if Apple took care of business of keeping their OS up to date instead of meddling in politics and trying to muscle in on an industry that is over 100 years old and has a reputation of destroying newcomers one way or another.

Oh well, . . . . Edouard
