USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers

My USB driver stopped working about a week ago for no apparent reason. I've been running El Capitain without problems since last fall. But suddenly, WC simply will not connect to my Vantage Pro 2. WC is only recognizing a couple of Bluetooth connections. I've downloaded the latest driver again, to no avail.

After reading last years post on the driver topic, I can now see that my iMac indicates that while the driver is in Extensions, it shows "Loaded: no".

WC is only recognizing a couple of Bluetooth connections. I've downloaded the latest driver again, to no avail.

Trying running the uninstall script that also comes on the installation disk image.  The uninstaller is a shell script meaning you need to run it from the terminal.  Hopefully that won't be too much of a challenge.  You might need to remove something that is left over for previous installations in order to get the new driver to work properly.

Let us know if this tip gets you working once more.

I can only offer you my own frustrating experience and how I solved it. Your milage may vary.

I was moving the WC to an older iMac. Going from a 2011 iMac to a 2008 by doing a hard drive swap. WC could not connect after being moved into the older computer. My solution, that I got from reading someone else's experience on these threads, was to insert a USB 2.0 hub between the computer's connection and that of the Vantage Pro 2. It worked for me. Try it and see. Can't hurt.
