WeatherCat isn't this smart yet, but perhaps someday . . .
« on: January 17, 2016, 11:09:56 PM »
Dear WeatherCat visionaries into the future, . . . . .

Imagine a day when WeatherCat could push out notifications like this: . . . .

Well, that day isn't yet, but this is exactly what happened.  We've been having light rain most of the weekend but are expecting a nasty storm with heavy rains tonight.  So it was really important to make sure all the exposed drains were cleared of all debris beforehand.  I checked the radar and could see the rains where headed our way.  I then noticed the rain had stopped and rushed out the door with the blower.  Just as I was gathering the extension cords the heavy rains started!  [rain2]

Can't get much better timing than that!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Depends on whether you were coming IN or going OUT! One could have been a very electrifying experience! :o I think the fact that you are concerned about cleaning the gutters before a rain indicates how little it rains there! I've put gutter 'shields' on about half our gutters, mostly those near the trees. I'm seriously considering taking most of our gutters down. Several areas simply can't handle the massive amounts of rain during some heavy storms. I'd probably leave a few directly over the front and side door area, and the 125' that feed the large container that I use to replenish the fish pond. Other than that, there's not much point in concentrating the run-off at the down spouts. Many folks don't have grass, much, greenery around their newly constructed house so they need some thing to prevent the red clay from splashing mud onto the lower three feet of the siding; the stain hardly ever comes off! That's why we all have brown feet... [lol]

Drains on the driveway . . . (Re: WeatherCat isn't this smart yet)

Dear X-Air and WeatherCat homeowners,

I've put gutter 'shields' on about half our gutters, mostly those near the trees.

Actually all our house gutters have screens and they work very well.  The area that I need to take care of are the grate drains at the end of the driveway.  Not matter how many times you clean, there are fresh leaves and other debris.  I knew this was going to be a bad storm so even if there wasn't much more to clean up, I took the extra step of removing everything I could.  Seems to have been a prudent thing to have done as well!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
