WeatherCat Crash
« on: December 31, 2015, 04:33:50 PM »
Stu:

I may have discovered something about the periodic WeatherCat crashes I have been experiencing. Once in a while I override the Current Condition using the Current Conditions Calculator. Usually it is just a one or two hour override. But on Christmas, I set an override for 24 hours that read: Christmasy. About 6 hours into it, the Cat crashed. Last night, I set a 24 hour override that read: New Year's Eveish. The Cat crashed about 6 hours into the override. It may be total coincidence, but it is the first time I have ever been able to identify anything these crashes have in common. This would not explain all of my crashes but as I think back it may explain some of them. The latest log is attached. Do you think there is anything to this theory?

I restarted WeatherCat and re-enabled the Current Conditions override setting for 14 hours and WeatherCat crashed again, within an hour.

Interesting. You crashes are both different  - the first is AppleScript related and the second is OS timer related - I would suggest a reboot of the machine. [Edit: Looking more closely, they are both the same - both OS Timer calls crashing].

I use the feature a lot myself and haven't noticed any issues, but tend to run in two hour increments (although the amount of time shouldn't make any difference). I'll set up a test to see if I can reproduce it - thanks for the post!

Stu:

I repeated the scenario and WC crashed again. I rebooted OS X, started WeatherCat and entered an override for 12 hours in the Current Conditions Calculator. Approximately 6 hours later, WeatherCat crashed. See attached log.

Interesting - I've had that test running here for over 24 hours now with no issues.

Keep going with it. Maybe two or three more times to get more data, and then don't do it (if you see what I mean).

Duplicated it again. Set a 12 hour override in the Current Conditions Calculator. Approximately 3 hours later, WeatherCat crashed. See attached log.

And one more time for good luck. Duplicated it again. Set a 12 hour override in the Current Conditions Calculator. Approximately 2 hours later, WeatherCat crashed. See attached log.

Now I am going to else the override alone and see what happens.

No crash since I stopped using the override.
