Oregon WMR200 - Data partially downloaded
« on: November 01, 2015, 03:21:40 PM »
Dear all

I sometimes have a problem when downloading data from my WMR200 to WeatherCat on my Macbook.

From time to time, download seems to stop in the middle of the process and no data are being stored in the software.

For example, I downloaded this morning a week of data (I usually download once a week) from Oct 23rd to Nov 1st. When reaching Oct 27th, data download stopped and from Oct 27th to Nov 1st, I now have the same figures in every single columns.

Please note that the computer does not go into sleep mode during the process (I know that can cause the same problem but I really pay attention to this).

This is very annoying.

I don't know if the problems comes from the station or from the software. Does anyone have the same problem with the WMR200 station ?

Moreover, for a few months now, the display of the remaining data to be downloaded has disappeared, only showing a message saying the process will be finished within 5 seconds...

Thanks for your help.

Vincent

Hi Vincent,
With the WMR200, the download is driven by the station - it decides to send the historical data to WeatherCat; on most other stations, WeatherCat requests the data. When it starts sending, WeatherCat will capture the data until it ends. When the data stops, WeatherCat will wait for a while to make sure there's no more coming then store the data. If the data doesn't cover the complete range it's looking for, it'll use the last values to fill in the gap.

Simple things to check are that the logger period will cover the period you want that the date and time is correct on the console and also make sure you aren't connecting to the station from other software as once the WMR200 has sent the data once, it won't send it again.

Reset data logger? (Re: Oregon WMR200 - Data partially downloaded)

Dear Vincent, Stu, and WeatherCat station troubleshooters,

I sometimes have a problem when downloading data from my WMR200 to WeatherCat on my Macbook.
. . . .

One thing you might try is to reset the data logger.  First try to download all the data you can manage to get off the station, then you can follow the instructions on the WeatherCat Wiki:

http://wiki.trixology.com/index.php/Oregon_Scientific

If the data logger has some problems with corrupted data, this will reset the data logger to the condition it was when you first purchased the station.  That might solve your problems.

Cheers, Edouard

Thank you all for your help.

I'll try to completely reset the datalogger. I saw on a French forum that I should do this several times in a row so that it can be really efficient.

Thanks for your support.

Hello Vincent,

I have a WMR200 (brand new) as well and had also a download issue at the first connection of the station with WC.
I reset the data logger (and mentioned in this post) and then it was fine.

Yesterday I downloaded 1-day of standalone collected data (station disconnected, computer OFF), took several minutes but did not crash.
I read that you let the station record data for 7 days before you retrieve the collected data with WC.
How does it work? well? no more problem? no missing data?

Just downloaded 40h of 1-min recordings without any problems.
Next step will be to record a week of 1-min data  :o !
