False rain readings
« on: October 08, 2015, 04:00:03 PM »
For the past several weeks my Vantage Pro has caused WC to record a .49 rain reading sometime around the change of day at midnight. There has been no rain. The false record is always the same. I've been manually deleting it. This problem occurred before installing El Capitan and continues, so it doesn't seem related to that. Anyone with similar experiences? I've been running WC for a decade and have not experienced this problem before.

Is not something I've seen before - does it occur at the same time every day? Does the monthly and annual values increase?

Yes, it impacts that monthly & annual rates. The Vantage Pro states that we have had 2.34 inches in October and 35.33 for the year compared to 2.32 and 38.82 on the website via WeatherCat (I adjusted the rain 10/3 - 10/7 in the daily rain editor)

Here is an example from the Data Viewer on 10/6:

(Image attached)

Looking back at each day from 7/1 in the Data Viewer/Editor, I see problems on the following dates (because the UV & Solar readings popped up in the middle of the night)
8/18
9/1
9/14
9/21
9/22
10/3 - today

Looking at your data there, it looks like most sensors are affected (ext. temperature jumps from 77 to 85, ext humidity jumps from 90 down to 80 and so on). Can you relate the events to anything specific in the environment such as a power outage or Ham radio activity? (I'm assuming this data was recorded 'live' - if downloaded from the logger then the most likely cause is a record with the wrong timestamp on it).

The problem seems to resolved itself in the past several days. It does seem to have been trigged by some source outside my setup, perhaps via the power lines. Thanks for your observations! 8)
