Weathercat Generated Email Date Header Missing
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:27:22 AM »
I have noticed that WeatherCat generated emails don't appear to be generated with a Date header.

I've noticed this because I have kept all my daily report mails on my IMAP server, and have just configured a new email client to try and I now have a years worth of daily reports all dated received "now" as the mail client has had to infer a date/time when downloading the message.

Looking back, I notice that the mails have always received a Date based on the time they were downloaded from the email server, and it's just that I never noticed as my main mail client is usually always on.

Any chance that, in a future update, these emails could include a Date header of either the time they are generated, or the time of the event to which they relate?

Thanks,

Dave Barfoot

I use IMAP and all of my WC-generated email has a date and time stamp in the body of the message.

As Blick points out, all WeatherCat emails have a timestamp in the content of the email themselves which gives the time the email was generated but they don't have a sent date/time header.

I've just added it as a feature request, thanks for the suggestion [tup]

Dear Dave, Blick, Stu, and WeatherCat fans,

Ah ha!  I had noted that all the WeatherCat emails appeared to have the time stamp of when I fetched the mail, but never understood why and wasn't worried enough to explore the matter.  The emails sent by my AppleScripts didn't have this problem.  Definitely no biggie, but if this could be fixed someday it would bring all the weather related emails into chronological order.

Thanks Stu!!  [tup]

Cheers, Edouard

First chance to get back here since I posted.

Thanks, hopefully it's simple enough to implement that more important items don't always move it down the list  ;D

I have a list like that in front of me now (I think the oldest item on it is 4 years old now)

Yes, the time stamp is there but the lack of header leaves the order in my mail folder up to my mail software and it doesn't get it right.

A small problem in the scheme of things but when it happens it niggles at me to see them out of order  ;D

Dave.
