Multiple weather stations, one Weather Cat?
« on: April 28, 2015, 10:33:17 PM »
I have two Davis stations (Old and New).  I am trying to shift WC back and forth between them for a while.

I thought I could just keep unique copies of the WC files and put them where WC wants them when I want to run off of one or the other stations.

It seems that WC is saving somewhere some or all of the old station setup information.  If I delete all the data, .plist, web files it still knows where to find the old station (ip address/serial port).

How can I keep data and switch back and forth between two stations?

Here are the files I have been deleting/saving, what am I missing?

~/Library/WeatherCatData
~ /Library/Application Support/WCWeb
~/Library/Application Support/WeatherCatCustomWeb
~/Library/Application Support/WeatherCatMedia
~ /Library/Application Support/WeatherCatTemp
~ /Library/Preferences/com.trixology.weathercat.plist

You seem to be missing some of the files.  On the WeatherCat Wiki we have instructions on how to move WeatherCat from one drive to another.  This has the complete list of files you need to move:

Also, if you are running Yosemite or Mavericks, deleting a WeatherCat plist does not actually delete it. You have to delete the plist, empty the trash and then reboot the computer before you Restart the app.

Thanks for reminding me about the cache for .pflist, I had forgotten.  It can drive you nuts when things don't behave as you think they should.  All is working now.

Smitty:

If you are interested in another way to flush your plist from cache without rebooting, check out this thread:
