Resolve Dynamic DNS in Configure Station Comms....
« on: April 12, 2015, 09:45:03 PM »
My WeatherLinkIP is on a remote network from my desktop which runs WC.  I have been successfully using the hard ip address plus port (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:22222) from of the address in the comms section of WC.

I have set up a dynamic ip name for my remote router with the WeatherLinkIP behind it.  The name seems to resolve just fine with a nslookup.  WC seems not to be able to resolve the name when it starts. I use the form: name.name.org:222222

Does anyone know whether WC will resolve DNS names in the Comms... section?

I'm pretty sure it won't do a DNS lookup, but let me check and get back to you.

Glad I checked :)

It does do a DNS lookup. Check the console log (Applications->Utilities->Console.app) for any errors/warnings whilst trying to connect in WeatherCat.

You are right it does do a DNS lookup.  It seemed to me, but I did not check to closely, that you need to quit and restart WC after setting the DNS name.  Thanks
