Finally, it's official: El Ni?o is here.

Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

Some of us have been hoping for a boost in the rainfall thanks El Ni?o.  Alas, it has arrived too little too late for at least this rainy season.  The full story is here on a new website put up by the U.S. government: climate.gov:

So the weather patterns we have been observing were not due to El Ni?o after all.  That leaves the above normal rainfall for the south-western part of the United States unexplained.
