I wish to generate a Davis VP2 Console for my webpage simlar to this one:

http://silveracorn.co.nz/weather/davconvp2CW.php

The development of this is described in this thread:

http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=21094.0

Scripts are available here for those who use Cumulus and Weather Display software.

http://silveracorn.co.nz/weather/wxscripts.php

The question is whether I can  generate the data files to match either Cumulus or WD tags  as then it may work.

Two files are required: "realtime" data and 24 hours of hourly for the graphs.

Weather Display supplies both files,

Cumulus requires an additional data file for the graph data and a few other variables.

Thanks for looking this over.

I don't know the answer to your question but must say the web site showing the VP2 Console "live" is pretty cool.

Cool, but . . . contrived? (Re: Does WeatherCat generate the data files)

Dear schwab, LesCimes, and WeatherCat fans of "kewl!"  8)

Okay, okay, when I first saw this I must confess.  It is really cool!

Even so, it sure looks like an awful lot of work for something that obviously only weather geeks could really get into.

Well, WeatherCat generates data files that you could run some scripts to ferret out what you are looking for.  Take a look at the files that you'll find here:

~/Library/WeatherCatData/Location1/2015

Make copy of either 1_WeatherCatData.cat or 2_WeatherCatData.cat and then you can look through the files to see the data format.  There are comments at the top to indicate what data field is what.  If you know a little UNIX scripting, it wouldn't be very difficult to assemble the data files you want to create.  Alas, I've had a job where basically all I did was write scripts like this to convert data from one format to another and it is tedious.  So it is up to you if you want to sweat out the details to get all that website coolness . . .

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

You're right about that. My wife is a fan of my weather station - sort of.  ::)
