New Weather Underground iPad application.
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:32:59 PM »
Dear WeatherCat submitters to Weather Underground and iPad owners,

If you are part of this select group, there is a new free iPad app from Weather Underground:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wunderstation-weather-from/id906099986?ls=1&mt=8

I've downloaded it and installed it on my iPad and it indeed looks very nice.  It has organized as a set of widgets that can be opened and closed allowing you to check out your weather data in more detail.  If you have been looking for a way to keep an eye on your weather station while you are on the go and you do submit to Weather Underground, this is a no-brainer for the price.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I too received an email from WU about this app. I downloaded it today, added my PWS and then added the graphics for the solar and UV sensors. It's quite well-thought out and is pretty all-inclusive. The price is right (free) and I quite like it for seeing what my WU uploads look like. I upload to WU every 10 minutes, so I still need the Grand Poobah's excellent iPad app to check on the most recent weather data and to make sure the battle between good data and comms errors is being won by the good guys.

Dear Blick and WeatherCat iPad fans,

The price is right (free) and I quite like it for seeing what my WU uploads look like. I upload to WU every 10 minutes, so I still need the Grand Poobah's excellent iPad app to check on the most recent weather data and to make sure the battle between good data and comms errors is being won by the good guys.

I second the motion.  This application has some neat features, but I'll still turn to WeatherCatPad when I need to get the current conditions.  WeatherCatPad is much cleaner and easy to customize.  The Weather Underground app is awfully cluttered and busy in its layout.  It does have information that I cannot get easily elsewhere, but honestly, I doubt I'll be look for that information very often.  If it wasn't free, odds are I wouldn't have it on my iPad.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

I'm liking the new WU iPad app, as well. Very appealing look.

I upload to WU every 10 minutes, so I still need the Grand Poobah's excellent iPad app to check on the most recent weather data

For instant weather gratification, I made a Home Screen icon/app of my Steel Series Gauges web page and keep it in a folder with my other weather apps.

I have spent some additional time running the WunderStation app through its paces. It's a fairly brilliant piece of work. After you install and add your own PWS, it configures the default screen into a set of widgets. If you have additional sensors, like solar or UV sensors, you have to add those widgets to the default set. Then, tapping on each widget window pops open historical data for that weather element. Its quite well done for those of you that have an iPad and upload to Weather Underground.

For instant weather gratification, I made a Home Screen icon/app of my Steel Series Gauges web page and keep it in a folder with my other weather apps.

Steve, if this is something you have on your iPad home screen, how did you do it? Inquiring minds want to know.

John,

When you are on your Steel Series Gauge page, click the share button (up arrow in box.) Click "Add to Home Screen", and then name it. Then it will appear on your home screen as a pseudo app. You can do this with any web page.
