Online Custom Web Uploading
« on: August 13, 2014, 04:52:48 PM »
I have a question about how FTP uploads work. In WeatherCat | Preferences | On-line | Custom Web | Main you set how often to update web pages. Then, in the Additional Files tab you can set the frequency for individual files. In the Additional Files tab, you can set the frequency to be anywhere between .1 to 1000 minutes. I understand how this works for faster frequency that the setting in the Main tab. My question is, if you set the individual file update frequency to something longer than what you have set in the Main tab, does that file get skipped when the Main upload processes? For example, if my Main update frequency is set to 10 minutes, but I have an Additional File frequency set to 60 minutes, does the Cat actually skip that file every 10 minutes when it uploads everything else?

Additional files independent. (Re: Online Custom Web Uploading)

Dear Blick, Randall, and WeatherCat web spinners,

My question is, if you set the individual file update frequency to something longer than what you have set in the Main tab, does that file get skipped when the Main upload processes?

The best way to think about it is that the additional files are completely independent.  If you set the upload rate faster, those files will be uploaded more frequently than the rest.  If the upload rate is slower the additional files will be uploaded only at the frequency you have set.

The only caveat is that you must set aside a separate source folder for them.  If you keep them in the same folder as your main custom website then you would have the phenomena you were describing.  I created a separate folder that I named:

~/WeatherCat Web Sites/WC Custom Upload Templates

Maybe not the best choice of name, but as long as you keep those files in an independent folder, WeatherCat will schedule them completely differently than the main web site templates.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]
