Keep an eye for daylight savings "issuez"
« on: March 09, 2014, 12:22:28 AM »
Dear WeatherCat fans,

The United States is about to change to "Daylight Saving Time."   I'll spare you my annual rant about how ridiculous  daylight savings time is.  However, it is especially brutal on anything that attempts to collect data in real-time like WeatherCat.  In the past there have been some graph "anomalies," but Stu seems to have managed to get rid of most of them.  However, be aware that there could be some surprises.  After all, effectively WeatherCat will face a whole hour magically coming out of nowhere - without any data.

Of course this is a perfectly - "natural" - situation . . . . .

*Heavy Sigh* . . .

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Because I am an eejit, I did stay up up watch it. And it smoothly transitioned from 1:59 AM to 3:00 AM with no anomalies. Rest easy fellow WeatherCatters.

If I remember correctly weren't you in engineering Herb? It refers to engineering form ID-10t.  ;)

Ha ha, although I like Steve's answer, what I had in mind is a good old United Kingdom word that is spelt eejit rather than idiot to closer approximate its pronunciation in the mother country. Regardless of the spelling, the meaning is the same.

Howdy Herb, Blick, Steve, Phillip, and WeatherCat insomniacs,

Glad nobody had any problems with their versions of WeatherCat.

Definitely hat's off to Stu!  [tup]

Software developers shouldn't have this sort of headaches, but Stu has got da' Cat handling it in stride!  [cat]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Scottish and Irish word to be pedantic, but UK will have to do for our Ex Colonials !  [cheers1]

What's an eejit?

It's what Bobbie Singer called Sam and Dean on 'Supernatural' Plural eejits.

Wow? Ask a question, get a wealth of answers! Lol! Thanks guys. Steve, I'm no engineer. Just a lowly self trained technician. OK, I'm kidding about the self trained. The US Navy made me do it.

Blick, Jace, I guess I've been spelling it wrong. I thought it was idjit. Believe it or not, I'm very familiar with it's use. I like the cross pollination with eejit (pedantic). Somehow it fits.

This whole thread is hilarious. Anyway, to further the cause of hijacking this thread...

I always thought the word "pedantic" meant overly scholarly - as in intellectually pretentious. Jace -- did you by any chance mean "pedestrian"? I ask because I've heard "pedestrian" used on occasion to mean dull (in an idiotic sort of way).

So here's my dilemma: if eejit means idiot, and if the Scottish/Irish meaning of eejit is "pedantic", then I'm a total dumjit because I'm totally lost  [goofy]

Alas Gents 'tis was poor grammar on my behalf, (hangs held low in shame). I was trying to point out that eejit is a Scottish/Irish word, rather than being a United Kingdom (English) word.

Herb, your right it does sort of fit some how even if by mistake.
Oh I feel a right numpty now ! [banghead]

Abject apologies upon bended knee, for any confusion I may have caused.
