Leaving You
« on: March 01, 2014, 02:21:50 PM »
It is with a heavy heart that I have today switched off my Weather Cat program. Many of you will now that I have been running an Oregon 968, which has become increasingly the odd machine out compared to the Davis folk amongst you. I thus embarked on a project to build a new weather station using professional sensors, which in fact ended up as being two stations. They are nearing completion now, but regrettably neither will interface with the Cat as they output as CSV files. I could not afford to buy a Davis system especially over here, so the program has unfortunately become of little use to me.
I turned off the console today, and thus it means that I will no longer be frequenting this forum. May I take the opportunity to thank you al for making it , in my opinion, probably the best and friendliest forum on the net. Also to thank Stu and his "furry assistants" for the incredibly hard work which has been put in to the program.

May I wish you all well for the future, and perhaps I may pop in from time to time to see what is going on.

Best wishes

Mike

Sad to see you go, Mike. I hope you decide to return at some point in the future. Until then, make the best of what you've got and live each day to its fullest.

Mike,

I'm sad to hear the news, and hope you will stop in once in a while to say hello. In the 2-1/2 years I've been here and on MacWeather, I've enjoyed reading of your experiences, learned a lot of information, coveted your manual instruments, and disheartened by your health problems.

Best wishes and good luck to you. Let us know what your station ends up looking like and the resulting web page. Or convince Stu to add the drivers and features needed to keep you here. ;)

Dear Mike and WeatherCat faithful,

It is with a heavy heart that I have today switched off my Weather Cat program.

Definitely sorry to see you stuck in the predicament that you find yourself.  It is unfortunate that the weather station game is one where wealth has such a role.  We would be so much better off if personal weather stations were peppered all over the world and people like you could get some sort of financial assistant to obtain one.  You would certainly try your hardest to keep that station up and running.

I too will miss your sage commentary.  Please do stop by when you need to chat with your friends far away.

Cheers, Edouard
