WeatherCat 1.2.3 Crashing / Mavericks
« on: November 10, 2013, 06:33:01 PM »
Hi.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, Weathercat is continously crashing shortly upon startup.  It starts to bring up all my windows/charts and gaugest - and then violently crashes.  The watchdog process  automatically starts the app again, and then of course it crashes.

I'm running the latest build.    Any suggestions on how best to further troubleshoot this?

I'm running a Davis Vantague VUE, with the USB logger.  This setup was working fine until I had upgraded to Mavericks.

Attached is the crash log.

Thanks in advance!

Hi dmatrix,

It looks as if something is corrupt - first download a fresh copy of WeatherCat: http://data.trixology.com/downloads/WeatherCat.zip

If that's showing the same problem, delete WeatherCat's preferences file and then reboot the machine (on 10.9 if you don't reboot, the old settings will hang about in memory). Deleting the preferences file will reset everything back to factory defaults.

You can find the preferences file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.trixology.weathercat.plist (where ~ is your home directory).

You may find your Library folder is hidden and you can't find it in your home folder If it is, you can make it visible again via the following terminal command:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/

Another way to go to this folder is to hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu in the Finder and selecting the 'Library' menu item.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the welcome, I have deleted and re-installed WeatherCat and all seems a lot better.
This might seem a dumb question but if my mac goes to sleep does WeatherCat still function in the background or does WeatherCat sleep as well?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve
WeatherCat needs to run 24/7 if you let your computer go to sleep so will WeatherCat
You need to let it run 24/7 and just let the display go to sleep
System Preferences/Energy Saver

this is what mine looks like

hope this helps

cheers

Thanks for confirming that Randall75 much appreciated.
I seem to have inadvertently hijacked someone else's post, apologies

Thanks
