I investigated "Heat Index" several days ago trying to add a Rule in the Current Conditions Calculator tool. Not sure what formula
Stu uses, but NOAA uses an "amalgamation" (a governmental term for 'conglomeration') of several formulas (or formulae, if you want

). I know we talked about this on the forums last year; the local TV "weathermen" tend to emphasize the "Heat Index" without ever defining it, especially if the crime rate for the day is down.

BTW, one cannot, apparently, use the only 'Heat Index' in the list of items in the Current Conditions Calculator tools. The only choice is "Calculated Heat Index" and it seems to have a desire to auto enter values just by leaving the entry box and/or clicking back into it. I'm waiting on the end of the well deserved vacation of the developer to bring him into the discussion.

We might as well ask him to explain his heat index formula, if he wants.
