In the mountains of northern Utah we are still experiencing a drought. Although February provided a lot of rain, we didn't get much snow, which is what we need to replenish the aquifers.

Dear WeatherCat climate watchers,

The days are getting noticeably longer and spring is only 3 weeks away.   Here is the report from Canebas Weather Station for February:

Once more, I'll make my "plug" to WeatherCatRCP in the hopes that Grand might reconsider and support it.

Of course the location for the data remains the same:

Drought continues to be a major problem across the western United States.  There is a United States drought monitor that you can consult whenever you wish to view the current status (good or bad . . . . )

So who's next?

General Computing/Macintosh / Should be okay. (Re: iMac upgrade Thunderbolt)
« Last post by elagache on March 01, 2026, 12:45:20 AM »
Dear faymondo and WeatherCat troubleshooters,

This year I will need to finally get a new iMac as my 2015 iMac is slowly grinding to a halt.

If I get a new iMac will Weathercat work if I get a USB to USBC adapter to connect my David Vantage Pro 1?

I don't know about the latest Macs but I thought most still had at least 1 USB 2.0 port.  I just used a USB 2.0 hub with 12 connection points.  My Davis Vantage Pro-2 is happy with that.  If you have a Vantage Pro-1, you have (I assume) a serial to USB dongle.  That should work just as well.

If needed, Thunderbolt (USB-C) to USB 2.0 adapters are common and not very expensive.

Also will the latest MAC OS software run OK ?

We had replies on WXForum confirming that WeatherCat was running fine on MacOS 26.0 (Tahoe)

https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=49019.0

Hopefully that will aide you in deciding what upgrade to make.

General Weather Discussion / Moods of the sky behind our weather instruments 2026

Dear WeatherCat faithful,

Apologies for not getting some sort of a photo on the WeatherCat forum.  Finally my free time overlapped this a pretty scene:

We are about 2 weeks beyond the mid-point of winter in the northern hemisphere.  The good news is that the days are getting noticeably longer.  [cloudsun]  The bad news is that the start of daylight savings is not that far away!  [sleep]

Grin and bear it!  >:(

WeatherCat General Discussion / Re: Reload data into new installation of weather cat

Ryan:

Sorry to hear about the not-so-friendly upgrade. Check out this article in the WeatherCat Wiki. It identifies the files and locations you need.

Well, to borrow Tesco's slogan, "Every little helps." In the States, that is translated as, "Every little bit helps."

Update to macOS 26.3 did not go to plan...

Had to do a full wipe and reload of macOS etc.

How do I fish the weather cat data files out of Time Machine so I can put them back into the new installation?.

Dear Stu and WeatherCatters with road-trip inclinations,

Great photos and write up Edouard - looks like a 'proper job' :)

I hope so.  This shop has done they estimate over a thousand Airstream restorations so my trailer is in good hands.

How long do you think it's going to be before finished and you can give it a test run?

. . . . . . . .  Well, . . . . .   The good news is that the aluminum alloy wheels have finally come in:

However, the while-wall tires are still on order and they are having a "devil" of a time finding all the leaks in the outer skin.

I do hope the trailer will be ready before the second-coming but I cannot be too sure - particularly given the lunacy going on in the world today!   [goofy]

Perhaps I need to invoke a higher power . . . . . . . . . but which one?

[wink]  Fortunately, today we can turn to the power of Artificial Intelligence . . . . .   lol(1)

Here is the reply if you ask Google AI: "What is the patron saint of travel trailers?"

https://share.google/aimode/h7DVz2t2zBaEgTx8N

Of course Google AI fails to consider the most obvious choice: Saint Jude, the patron saint of lost causes!!   [lol2]
