Hi Stu
What is it with WeatherCat and compressed memory?
After 7 days 14 hours Activity Monitor shows Wc having 2.01 GBs of compressed memory.
The closest is Mail Web content with 168 MBs
I will keep a watch on it but when it gets this high
The Cat usually crashes when it get this big
What is the cause for this high compressed memory?
Am I running to much stuff within the Cat?
cheers

Hi Randall and WeatherCat memory . . . . (http://www.canebas.org/WeatherCat/Forum_support_documents/Custom_emoticons/pig.gif)
What is it with WeatherCat and compressed memory?
I think I have a handle on at least one aspect of WeatherCat 2.x memory issues. I temporarily relocated the file: WeatherCatCustomGauges.plist that you'll find in the following folder:
~/Library/WeatherCatData
Since doing that, WeatherCat is using less than 300 MB of RAM. That suggests to me that OS X has some memory leaks in the Open GL graphics library that Stu uses to create the WeatherCat custom gauges. I have a dramatic before and after memory graph to post but it isn't clean enough to make a good comparison. It will be tomorrow, so I'll post it then.
Try relocating the file noted above to some other location and see if that helps your version of WeatherCat use less memory. You'll lose your custom gauges, but you'll get back back when you put the file back in its original folder. If it turns out that is the problem, you might want to have fewer custom gauges at least until Apple fixes the memory leak.
Cheers, Edouard . . .

Try the dishwasher. It'll clean anything, and fast too!

Hi Edouard and Stu
Ok Edouard got rid of the Custom Gauges plist as you stated
Restarted the computer which restarted the cat
The memory use was 377 MB at first start
But with in minutes it had already jumped to 412 MB
So what is causing the rapid increase in memory
Made it 9 days 17 hours before the Cat quit again with 361767 good data
So what else can I do to keep the Cat running along than 9 days
cheers

That jump on startup isn't unusual - as things run for the first time (custom web for example), it'll use more memory. As Edouard notes, see how it goes with the gauges off - if it's OK with them off, try it with less gauges.
