Dear WeatherCat faithful,

Apologies for not getting some sort of a photo on the WeatherCat forum.  Finally my free time overlapped this a pretty scene:



We are about 2 weeks beyond the mid-point of winter in the northern hemisphere.  The good news is that the days are getting noticeably longer.    The bad news is that the start of daylight savings is not that far away!

Dear WeatherCat observers of the season's turning,

I've been struggling with insomnia so my early rising just isn't happening anymore.  Still, I did manage to capture this image shortly after sunrise:



Note the spider web to the left of the anemometer.  This isn't the usual winter to spring transition that I would normally expect.

As if that wasn't enough of a "surprise," we are having our air conditioner tuned up on the last day of winter.  Enough said!!

Dear WeatherCat observers of the seasons turning, . . . .

Dear WeatherCat faithful,

For most folks I'm already late but today marks end the astronomical end of Summer and start of Autumn.  I have two photos instead of one to mark the occasion.  The first is one taken at dusk instead of dawn.  It is unusual around here to have colorful clouds to the east at sunset but here you go:



The other photo is an expression of the "season of discontent" that is the misery of California before the rains come:



Long before the leaves make their colorful transition, the late summer heat causes the trees to shed their leaves leaving a unhappy pile of debris.  Worse still, there is a sad game of "mow and blow" gardeners blowing leaving out of their property just to pile them up in their neighbor's.  Of course the process is then reversed.  It has reached the point that cities have little choice but to bring in heavy-duty vacuum cleaners to grab the leaves before the heavy rains start.  With the expected El Niño, the demand for these vacuum cleaners must be unusually high.

At least my trusty wagon has a shelter and will stay there during the expected the expected rains.

May we all make the best of these uncertain times . . .. .
