Hi Edouard and Lithium battery changers worldwide

Well I thought about things a lot the batteries are not hard to change, but their not exhausted and they are expensive, so would cost about ?20  - $35 ? a year, annoying if there is nothing wrong with them.

I've contacted Amazon.co.uk this morning, no hassles, full refund will be forthcoming, returns label is printed.

It will cost a bit more but I'll probably buy a basic wireless Vantage Pro 2, will give me the option of having the Anemometer sited better for wind measurements with the rest at a good height for rainfall.

I've been very impressed with JohnD of Prodata weather systems over here in Cambridge, he contacted Brett Lane about the Vue battery problems for me, looks like he might get some business from me soon. :)

Howdy JC and WeatherCat Davis fans,

Certainly very nice of them!!

OOOH!!!! [woohoo]

So glad you'll be joining the "full-citizens" Davis club!  [tup]

I understand what Davis did with the Vantage Vue, but they sure seem to have made a whole lot of compromises.  I still have gripes about the VP-2 line, but they still are the best product on the market.  I think you'll be much happier with the upgrade!  [bounce]

Congratulations in advance!!

Did I mention that collecting weather data was . . . addictive?  [goofy]

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Very good deal on being able to replace the Vue with the VP2. I've found Amazon to be pretty accommodating of product problems. Here's another fine example.

You're in a location where the 24 hour FARS probably wouldn't be a benefit, and any other accessories/sensors can be added on later. The 24 hr FARS is the only model that you need to decide on beforehand, as it is not easily added after the fact.

Hi all

Well it's up and running, will have to sort out a more permanent site now, with being able to "multi-site" the components. It's massive  [interesting] compared to the Vue.

Funny thing when I got back from collecting it from a "proper" weather dealer, I had a multitude of ISS transmitter battery alarms on a battery that was about 2 weeks old. [lol2] [lol2] [lol2] [lol2]

So pack up the Vue tomorrow, and contact Amazons collection people......

Howdy JC, Steve, and WeatherCat folks,

So glad you've got everything running!! Yes, you'll need to do a little planning to get the instruments where you really want them.

Yes, I was a little shocked when I first opened up my Vantage Pro-2.  The rain gauge definitely means business!!

Hope returning the Vantage Vue isn't too much of a hassle and that you'll get your VP-2 exactly the way you want it without too much misery.  Remember Steve coming back from trying to get his anemometer installed nearly passed out from the heat!!  [sweat2]  Definitely try to use your brain before you have to resort to your muscles!!

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Hey ho.

Bought my Vantage Vue late January this year, one of the reasons I went for the Vue was it was solar powered, with a long life back up battery, recommended change period of 9 months. The Oregon Scientific WMR 200 which was my other choice uses lots of AA batteries for the sensors.

So far I'm on my third ISS back-up battery, the battery supplied died in April, the long life Duracell Ultra replacement I installed died today, and it's been replaced with another Duracell Ultra, both the Duracell Ultras have best before dates of March 2021.

As it's summer [thunder]  [rainyluck] here and I'm getting an average of 14 -16 hours per day led light, I assumed the solar panel should have been powering the ISS and charging the capacitors, so the back-up battery should have minimal use.

I see on WXForum that's it was a common failure with the Vue on it's first release, but one would have hoped it was sorted out now after 3 or so years.

I've emailed Davis this afternoon, I await their reply with bated breath.

John.
