The NOAA spring outlook 2023
« on: March 22, 2023, 09:26:57 PM »
Dear WeatherCat observers of the seasons turning,

NOAA has released their prognostications for this upcoming spring.  You can read the press release here:

https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/spring-outlook-california-drought-cut-by-half-with-more-relief-to-come

There is also a video version that you can view on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/OiFzi8aCCHM

There are two major headlines in this release.  First, there is a bold claim that the drought will end for large areas of the west including much of California.  The other headline relates to too much water: flooding.  NOAA is forecasting moderate to major spring flooding predicted along upper Mississippi River from Minneapolis to St. Louis.  There is a chart showing where flooding is considered a possible risk and how serious the risk is expected to be.

As in all such things, we will simple have to wait and see if these prognostications comes to pass.

Cheers, Edouard

Thanks for sharing. Apparently drought mitigation equals flooding.
