WeatherCat and Mac OS 11 Big Sur

Just updated to Big Sur 11.01. WeatherCat not working with SiLabsUSBDriver 5.3.5 (updated 2/28/20). Rec'd legacy warning from Apple upon first reboot w/BigSur. Looks like we're in the wilderness for a while.....

Did you follow these instructions?
Reboot into Recovery Mode (hold Command - R until the Apple logo displays).
Log in with your password.
Select Utilities>Terminal from the drop down menu.
In Terminal, enter the following command:   
 /usr/sbin/spctl kext-consent add 52444FG85C
Verify with the following commands:
/usr/sbin/spctl status                      SHOULD RETURN "Kernel Extension User Consent: ENABLED"
/usr/sbin/spctl kext-consent list       SHOULD RETURN "Allowed Team Identifiers: 52444FG85C"

Now reboot into Big Sur and install SiLabs 5.3.5. Reconfigure Station Comms in WeatherCat and you should see the SiLabs 5.35 listed.

Not sure this has been experienced elsewhere, but I am unable to boot (or reboot) into recovery mode in Big Sur 11.0.1. Apparently this is a known Apple issue.....

Have you tried OPTION-COMMAND-R or SHIFT-OPTION-COMMAND-R?

Thanks...unfortunately neither OPTION-COMMAND-R or SHIFT-OPTION-COMMAND-R worked. Still unable to access safe mode in 11.0.1.

I am running Catalina (latest update) with a Oregon Scientific WMR200 connected to my Mac via USB.  Can I assume the "data logger" is via USB and also assume that an upgrade NOW to Big Sur would break that communications path as suggested above?

Moving to Big Sur is likely to kill your connectivity, UNLESS you're able to boot into Safe Mode once 11.0.1 is installed, and follow the directions shown earlier. Make sure you do a complete (bootable) backup of your Catalina system in the event you need to roll back your O/S (we use SuperDuper).

Not sure what is up and why it doesn't work.  On my weathercat machine I'm running Catalina but on a laptop I'm running Big Sur – I tried tried on my laptop. I'm no going to to upgrade to Big Sur until this gets resolved. Where exactly did you find this information from SiLabs. Can you provide a link to where this was discussed? Thx.

It doesn't appear that you are in recovery mode as indicated in your terminal window.

The flickering basic gauges have been logged with Apple - still waiting on feedback.

For those with the flickering basic gauges can you please post your machine and the graphics adaptor type (you can get this info from 'About This Mac' in the Apple menu). Secondly, if you run the WeatherCat client on the same machine, do you see the same problem there?

I also have a flickering gauges display.

iMac 18,2
Radeon Pro 555
Davis Vantage Pro 2

I initially had comms problems but appear to have resolved then by re-selecting the Vantage Pro2 in the configuration function which required a restart of WC - comms seem reliable now.

Hello folks,

Got a new iMac, migrated everything over, and after re-hooking up my WH1080 (equivalent) everything seems to be running smoothly. Great!

Except... the text is fuzzy. Everything is just out of focus (esp the header and footer).



Everything else is crisp and clear; it's just WC looking strange.

No idea if it's something to do with the graphics card or with Big S itself.

Relevant details:  WeatherCat V3.11  Build 26. 09:35:42 Oct 24 2020
MacOS 11.0.1
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020)
Graphics card: AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB
