Not to put too fine a point on it, but Sierra (the "current" Mac OS) is 10.12, isn't it? 10.11 is El Capitan. Close but no banana?

Yup, I posted that one a little too fast.
However, that does raise a puzzling question. If the Mac operating system is no longer OS X, then why is the version number still 10.12? Should this also change?
Honestly, while I was pondering my mistake I thought I realized why Apple might be playing games with Mac OS. What do you guys think, will there be next year an OS 10.
