Anybody heard of Netatmo ?
« on: February 05, 2015, 10:15:37 PM »
Wandered over to WeatherUnderground to view my pages this evening and apart from finding out that I've moved country to Switzerland  [woohoo] [cheers1] [interesting] http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=52.265%2C1.508&sp=ISUFFOLK62

I found that there is a small nest of new weather stations within 5 or so miles of myself. (Chrimbo pressies perhaps? ). I had a quick look to see if anybody was using 'da cat' but found that most of the stations are listed as being Netamo stations.

Seems they are for use with smartphones, and with additional modules you can measure Co2 levels and rain, and in the US a wrist worn sun exposure bracelet. I never heard of them before but they seem to be very popular if their station reporting map on the website is anything to go by.

Dear JC and WeatherCat weather station watchers,

I've never heard of Netatmo, but it reminds of another start-up company that was also trying to put together inexpensive stations that would be connected via the Internet.  If I recall correctly, those stations would find your local Wi-Fi network and do everything else automatically.  I did post something about on this forum, but as usual, I just can't find it . . .  :-[

It does appear to me that lots of entrepreneurs are looking to the weather as a "new thing."  It will be interesting to see how these upstarts effect the established weather station manufacturers.

Cheers, Edouard  [cheers1]

Jace, WU has made some nice improvements since being purchased by The Weather Channel but they have also taken a few steps back in terms of PWS accounts. How can you move country when you haven't moved house? Let us know if the view of your back garden changes.
