WC gauges
« on: November 07, 2013, 12:47:15 AM »
I have Maverick and every thing runs good. My iMac, my wife and I use with WC and all of a sudden when my wife logs onto her side and I log back, the WC gauges moves to the left top side of the desktop and under the top menu of the desktop. Any ideas to fix this.

Thanks

I am running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5). When I use fast user switching, logging back in to my ID works just fine. The WeatherCat windows are right where I left them before i switched to another user ID. Can one of you Mavericks users please try this to see if you can reproduce Retired's result?

I notice that in your profile you indicate you are running Lion. Which version of OS X are you using?

I just upgraded to Mavericks as well (my profile is very outdated) and the gauges/controller change positions, hide, completely disappear, partially disappears when logging back on.  The graphs always disappears each time the computer is started.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I am running 1.23 build 14.

If I leave the weather station gauges minimized when we switch users nothing happens, even the basic gauges stay on the desktop. Only when the weather station gauges are on the desktop is there a problem.

There isn't any application involvement with fast user switching, it's all Apple. I'll collate the information from this thread and pass it on to Apple to see what they say. To reduce the number of variables, please ensure you are running WeatherCat V1.2.3 build 16.

HantaYo, I think yours is a different problem - possibly WeatherCat's prefs file isn't writable/readable?

Retired,

Did you save the graph view location? In the menu at Window --> Save Graph View Position __> Set #

Using current WC version 1.23 build 14.
---Weather gauges has stopped moving when switching users. ---- because
If WC was selected on desktop and switched users, it moved. If WC was not selected and had Safari or any other program selected on desktop nothing moved when switching users. I saved positions for WC and now WC display stays where I want it.

Thanks

Well, It did not work.
If I had any program up and switched users WC was ok, but with nothing running and only finder showing on top menu WC moved to top left on screen. To get it back I have to move dock to left side and WC goes to right side of desktop where I can move it into position. Here is a screen shot of that area.

Hi retired,
just a shot in the dark... On your screenshot it seems that you have made your menu bar transparent - what if you disable this option in system preferences?
Cheers,
Reinhard

Good idea. Tried it and it still moved over.
As long as I keep the WC main gauge minimized when I'm not at the computer it won't move over.

Stu,

Verified permissions and the graphs and everything is sticking.  Problem fixed.

Thanks,

Everything is okay now. Have no idea why WC was moving on me. Past week a few new updates and With Maverick and reboot WC and the iMac and now it is fine. Like they say with a PC computer reboot to fix a problem, maybe that is all I needed to do to start with.

Thanks to all for the ideas.
