Year over Year Mo Averages
« on: March 28, 2013, 03:04:12 AM »
Now having managed to move 8 years of historical data to WeatherCat, it would be nice if WC provided monthly averages along the bottom of each data section in the Year over Year report. In other words, a row at the bottom displaying the Jan, Feb, Mar, etc average for data such that you can easily see how the value for a specific month compares to the overall average for that month based upon either user entered average values or the average of actual accumulated data.

I would also love to see Max/Min and Max/Min/Average bar custom graphs for scrolling data like are now available for anchored data. I upload scrolling 7 and 28 day graphs rather than anchored week & month graphs so visitors can see back a week or month regardless of the time of the week/month they visit the site.

Yep, you're not the only one that thinks providing the running monthly average on the year over year stats is a good idea  :) It's on the todo list scheduled for version 1.2. I've added a feature request for the scrolling min/max/average bar graphs. Thanks for the suggestion.

I second(++) this request. The custom graphs are pretty good but the lack of yearly statistics really hurt.

I think the issue is really the interface, as it doesn't lend itself to yearly Data "types" well. For example, there are a mix of "periods" in the Series selection. The Series/Drawing selection panel should have another pull down for Period. Depending on what Series is requested then the available Periods should change. And visa versa, depending on what Period is requested then the available Series should change. I cannot see how these can be independent of each other. This will also simplify the Data Type pull down.

With a better way of "filtering" choices then hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly periods can be easily supported. And extended.

Anyway, that's my take on the custom graphs.  ::)

Could you also include Maximum Average and Minimum Average temps in the Year over Year stat.
The current Average reading is not that useful i believe.
